The Wangka tells the story of Elders calling out to their ancestors to protect and guide people while on Country. It represents looking after each other and looking after family. 42 Merrepen leaves in the design represent each Richmond player on the list. The Dugong depicted outside the sash is the totem of the Larrakai family, representing the link to the sea.
